C.K.Itamura
From a very early age, C.K.Itamura recognized her attraction to materials on the borderline between transparent and translucent that can be: used as building matter; manipulated into shapes and forms; perceptively altered by changes in light in, around and passing through.
Using the malleable, sticky, translucent, strong and forgiving qualities of packing tape, Itamura created Fill, a sculpture consisting of sixty vessels, as her personal Kanreki celebration and as a metaphor for qualities of an intentionally lead life.
“Contemplated individually, each vessel — as with jelly donuts, a coffee mug, your brain, your heart, your daily agenda, or each year of your life — is a reminder that each one is yours to determine what you want to fill it with.”
